FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Laser checks are business checks designed to be printed from your accounting software using a laser printer. They are also commonly called computer checks, and laser checks with payment stubs are commonly called voucher checks.
When you order preprinted laser checks, your company name, address, logo, bank name, routing number, account number, and check number are already printed on the checks. Your accounting software prints the payment information, such as the payee, date, amount, and memo.
Laser checks are available in several popular styles, including Checks on Top, Checks in Middle, Checks on Bottom, 3 Checks to a Page, and Wallet Checks.
Before ordering, make sure the check style you select works with your accounting software, as not all programs support every check position.
If you order preprinted laser checks, no. We professionally print the routing number, account number, and MICR information for you. You can print your payments using regular toner.
If you use blank laser checks and print the routing and account numbers yourself, you will need MICR toner.
Important: Not all laser printers support MICR toner. If you're unsure, contact our sales team and we'll be happy to help you find out if your printer is MICR compatible.
Laser checks are available in several different layouts to fit your accounting software and the way you prefer to print your checks.
Checks on Top – The check is located at the top of the page with two voucher stubs underneath. This is one of the most popular business check layouts and is commonly used with QuickBooks® and other compatible accounting software.
Checks in Middle – The check is located in the middle of the page, with one voucher stub above and one below. This layout is used with accounting software designed for middle-position checks.
Checks on Bottom – The check is located at the bottom of the page with two voucher stubs above it. Choose this style when your accounting software is designed to print checks on the bottom.
3 Checks to a Page – Three full-size business checks are printed on each sheet with no voucher stubs. This is a convenient option for businesses that want to print multiple checks without attached stubs.
Wallet Checks – Three smaller checks are printed on each page with small record-keeping stubs on the side. The checks are approximately personal-check size and are especially popular with QuickBooks® users who select the Wallet check style.
Important: Before ordering, make sure you select the check layout that matches your accounting software. Not all accounting programs support every check position or style. Some programs may only support checks on top, while others are designed for checks in the middle or on the bottom. Always confirm which check style your software supports before ordering.
Yes. We can provide laser checks for virtually any accounting software.
If you use popular programs such as QuickBooks®, Quicken®, or Sage®, we offer the common check layouts designed to work with these programs.
If you use custom accounting or payroll software, we can customize the check layout to meet your software's printing requirements.
Not sure which check style you need? Contact us with the name of your software or a sample of your current check, and we'll help you choose the correct layout.
Hologram security checks feature a special silver holographic foil applied directly to each check for an added level of visible security.
A hologram is a special image built into the foil that changes its appearance when viewed from different angles. Because the hologram is a physical security feature on the actual check, it cannot be accurately reproduced by simply scanning, photocopying, or printing an image of the check.
The distinctive silver hologram foil also makes it easy to visually check whether the security feature is present on the original document.
For businesses looking for enhanced protection against copying and counterfeiting, hologram checks provide an additional security feature along with a professional, high-security appearance.
Preprinted laser checks come with your bank routing number and account number professionally printed in the MICR line at the bottom of the check using MICR ink. Your company name, address, bank name, check number, and company logo when requested are printed directly on the checks for a clean, professional appearance.
Depending on the accounting software you use, other items such as "Pay to the Order of," the date line, signature lines, and memo line are printed according to the check layout and software requirements.
Blank laser checks are secure check stock with no banking information preprinted. You print the routing number, account number, check number, company information, and other required check information yourself.
Important: Popular accounting programs such as QuickBooks®, Quicken®, and Sage® generally do not print the MICR routing and account information needed at the bottom of blank checks by themselves. Printing complete checks from blank check stock may require additional check-printing software, a compatible printer, and special magnetic MICR toner.
Preprinted checks are the easier choice for most businesses because the banking and MICR information is already professionally printed and the checks are ready to use with compatible accounting software.
Yes, our Laser Checks will work in a Laser Printer and Ink Jet Printers.
Yes. Laser checks can be handwritten as well as printed through your accounting software. This gives you the flexibility to print most checks and handwrite one whenever needed.
If you use QuickBooks® or Quicken®, you may choose to have handwriting lines printed on your checks, making it easier to neatly fill in the payee, date, and amount by hand.
With some other accounting programs, including certain Sage®/Peachtree® layouts, adding preprinted lines may interfere with where the software prints the payment information. In those cases, checks without lines are usually the better choice.
You do not need printed lines to handwrite a check. As long as the check is properly completed and contains the required banking information, a handwritten laser check can be processed by the bank just like a computer-printed check.
If you plan to handwrite most or all of your checks, our Manual Business Checks or Personal-Size Checkbooks may be a more economical choice.
